Gary Demers, a prolific writer, has made significant contributions to the fields of psychology, theology, and philosophy through his extensive work in magazines, newspapers, and online blogs. Since 2009, Demers has expanded his literary portfolio by offering ghostwriting services to several published authors. He has written and edited eight novels of Fiction and has a new memoir available on Amazon. (see inset photo and link). A film adaptation is currently in pre-production, with screening and casting underway. Gary also has another novel based on true events set in 1976 titled, Remember The Rain, which will be released on December 3rd 2024.
Demers' professional journey is marked by a notable tenure as the Director of Research and Education at the Southwest Institute for Behavioral Sciences. In this role, he oversaw collaborative research projects, spearheaded community education programs, and led the training of staff in clinical counseling.
Before embarking on his private counseling practice, Demers had a dynamic career trajectory. He was engaged in the Aviation Communications sector in New York and served as an Operations Specialist in the U.S. Navy. His academic background is equally diverse, with degrees in Business Administration, Theology, and a PhD. in clinical psychology.
An avid traveler, Demers has journeyed across the globe, capturing life through his lens, forming connections with people from different cultures, and gathering inspiration for his stories. He currently resides in Northwest San Antonio, TX.
Demers' multifaceted career also includes a stint as an evening weatherman for NBC Television, reflecting his versatility and ability to engage with diverse audiences. His rich heritage, with roots in French, Irish, Scottish, and English ancestry, adds to his multifarious persona. His personal interests are as varied as his professional experiences, encompassing book collecting, sailing, horseback riding, and travel. Interestingly, Demers once aspired to be an archaeologist, a path quite different from his current literary and scholarly pursuits.
His commitment to mental health care has been recognized through multiple awards for innovation in the field. Moreover, Demers has made appearances in several television commercials, showcasing his adaptability and presence in various media formats. As the Executive Director of Notable Writers, he leads an organization of 120 members, contributing significantly to the literary community. Initially recognized as an essayist, Demers' transition into publishing novels and short stories marks another chapter in his dynamic and influential career.
