Gary Demers is an award-winning author whose fiction explores the darker and more complicated terrain of human behavior: memory, guilt, trauma, loyalty, violence, and the choices people make when the past refuses to remain buried.

Drawing upon a professional background informed by psychology and behavioral science, Demers brings an unusual perspective to psychological suspense. His interest is not simply in what people do, but why they do it, what they tell themselves afterward, and how the consequences of a single moment can follow them for a lifetime.

That fascination is at the heart of Remember the Rain, his psychological suspense novella about childhood friendship, buried secrets, and five lives drawn together again nearly fifty years after one unforgettable summer. The novel introduces psychologist Paul Dumay and a world in which memory is rarely reliable, morality is seldom simple, and the most dangerous secrets are often the ones people keep from themselves.

For Demers, psychological suspense is ultimately less about crime than consequence. His stories examine the space between right and wrong, victim and offender, memory and truth, asking readers to look beyond what happened and consider the human mind behind it.

Before turning his attention more fully to writing and publishing, Demers served as Director of Research and Education for the Southwest Institute for Behavioral Sciences. His professional life has included work in behavioral science, education, media, and publishing. He is also a U.S. Navy veteran and earned three degrees across distinct professional disciplines, including a PhD.

As a publishing strategist, Demers has guided authors and manuscripts from early development through publication in print, ebook, and audiobook formats. He founded The Gary Group Press as an author incubator for writers serious about developing both their work and their relationship with readers.

That work has reinforced a philosophy that now shapes his own career as an author: readers do not build lasting relationships with algorithms, advertisements, or publishing companies. They build them with writers whose voices they recognize and whose stories give them a reason to return.
